Skoda India recently launched the Kylaq compact SUV. It is based on the same platform as the Kushaq, and seems like a mini version of the compact SUV. Now the waiting period of the Kylaq SUV has extended up to a maximum of 4 months, depending on the variant.
The automaker recently commenced deliveries and test drives of the Kylaq SUV. Booking is already open for all variants. The Kylaq SUV is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
The sub-4m SUV segment is not an easy one and there are some major players in the field which already have the first mover advantage.
Skoda plans to deliver 33,000 units by May, prioritizing higher-spec variants. The automaker even had to pause and reopen bookings for the Classic trim to manage the rush. Moreover, Škoda plans to sell 100,000 cars annually in India by 2026 with this newest release.
The Skoda Kylaq SUV is offered in four variants, namely Classic, Signature, Signature+, and Prestige.

Skoda Kylaq SUV waiting period

The base Classic variant has the longest waiting period of up to 4 months. Notably, the Kylaq base Classic variant comes only with a manual gearbox and limited color options (red, silver, and white)
The mid Signature variant has a waiting period of 3-4 months, depending upon on the color. The Signature variant, features like 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a rear defogger, a 7-inch infotainment system, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. It also gets USB Type-C charging ports, a front armrest, chrome garnish, a parcel tray, a cooled glovebox, and to name a few.

Meeting Demand

The top Signature+ and Prestige trims are most readily available with an average waiting period of 2-3 months, irrespective of the colour or gearbox. The higher variants Kylaq SUV get features like 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, auto-dimming IRVMs, ventilated and powered front seats, interior ambient lighting, and many others.

The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 115 horsepower (PS) and 178 newton meters (Nm) of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Kylaq SUV comes loaded with a long list of features. This includes a single-pane sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver information display, six-way power-adjustable seats for both the driver and front passenger which is rare in the segment, wireless charging, and automatic climate control. To ensure occupants’ safety, the brand is offering features like six airbags, brake disc wiping, traction control, and electronic stability control, among other features.

Talking about dimensions, the length of the Skoda Kylaq is 3,995 mm, the width is 1,975 mm, and the height is 1,575 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,566 mm and a ground clearance of 189 mm.

Skoda Kylaq has recently received 5-star safety ratings in the BNCAP crash test. It has been given more than 25 active and passive safety features as standard with 6 airbags, brake disc, ESC, traction control system, electronic differential lock, and multi-collision brake.

The Skoda Kylaq has raised the bar for safety in the Indian compact SUV market. It has achieved a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, scoring an impressive 30.88 out of 32.00 for adult occupant protection and 45.00 out of 49.00 for child occupant protection.
