Tata’s Tata Altroz Racer has been recognized by the India Book of Records as the “Fastest Indian Hatchback.”
Tata Motors recently launched the Altroz Racer in India. Not long after its debut, the sporty hatchback has already earned the title of India’s fastest hatchback.
The Tata Altroz Racer emerged as the fastest model with a lap time of 2:21:74. The Maruti Fronx Turbo secured second place, followed by 1.04 seconds, while the Hyundai i20 N Line came in last; it took 2.22 seconds more than the Altroz Racer.
The record was set by India’s first F1 racer, Narain Karthikeyan, at CoASTT Racing Track, Coimbatore. The Altroz Racer took the least time to complete the lap, which was just 2 minutes, 21.74 seconds.
The Altroz Racer, a performance-oriented variant of the standard premium hatchback, boasts cosmetic enhancements, some mechanical updates, and an extended features.
Intrestingly, Narain Karthikeyan has been an integral part of the development of the Altroz Racer.
Tata Motors introduced the Altroz Racer earlier this month. It is equipped with a 1.2L three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, developing a maximum power output of 120 PS at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm, respectively.
It is available in three variants: R1, R2, and R3, with three color choices: Pure Grey, Atomic Orange, and Avenue White.
Notably, the Altroz Racer is the ‘1st Indian hatchback with ventilated seats’, the ‘1st Indian hatchback with 360 camera, and the only sporty hatchback in India with a 5-star crash rating.
