Tata Punch CNG Gets a New Competitor Priced around Rs 7 Lakh
Citroën India has now introduced CNG models of the C3, joining the group of economical and environmentally friendly cars. Lovato Gas India’s factory-approved CNG kit has been added to all four available petrol versions. Live, Feel, Feel (O) and be Shine.

Comparison: Tata Punch iCNG differs from the Citroën C3 CNG

Both cars have a CNG note and are available with manual gears. Comparatively, Tata Punch gives you a bigger and more SUV-like shape, but Citroën C3 is a more budget-friendly choice with noticeably better fuel consumption.

Pricing and Variants

The Citroën C3 CNG costs ₹7.16 lakh for the lowest Live variant and ₹9.09 lakh for the Shine trim. The CNG versions cost ₹93,000 more compared to their petrol versions. Comparing markets, Citroën’s C3 CNG will primarily face the new Tata Punch iCNG, priced from ₹7.30 lakh to ₹10.17 lakh (before taxes).

Specifications and Features

The engine of the C3 CNG is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that makes 82 horsepower and 115 Newton meters of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is also offered with the engine. The compressed natural gas tank has a capacity of 55 litres and according to ARAI the vehicle can return 28.1 km/kg. You can go about 170 to 200 kilometers when your vehicle is powered by CNG. The company has improved the rear suspension so it can handle the extra weight and maintain a good ride. The vehicles’ standard interior features remain unchanged in the CNG versions.

Retrofit Option Available

Any Citroën dealership providing the service will allow existing C3 petrol vehicle owners to have their cars fitted with CNG. The decision fits with the increasing interest in fuel-efficient and green alternatives for small cars.

Market Outlook

According to numbers from SIAM, sales of vehicles that run on CNG in India have expanded by 34% since last year. As cities get more crowded, fuel rises and CNG facilities broaden, auto manufacturers are turning to cleaner choices for their cars.

Conclusion

Citroën hopes the C3 CNG will draw in those who are looking for a practical, fuel-efficient car at an attractive price. Having a CNG kit as standard on all variants boosts the brand’s attractiveness in small cars and also brings in more competition to the expanding CNG market.
