Tata Motors is bringing the iconic Sierra back to the market. The Tata Sierra was one of the first made-in-India SUVs. It was a two-door, four-seater SUV. Moreover, the Tata Sierra will hit the market by the end of 2025 in the country. It’s going to be available in both electric as well as ICE engine options.
Reportedly, Tata Motors is planning to expand its EV portfolio further by launching the Tata Sierra EV along with the Tata Harrier EV in the Indian market.
The ICE version of the Tata Sierra will be based on the ATLAS platform, which stands for Adaptive Tech-Forward Lifestyle Architecture.
It would likely sport either or both of Tata’s newly revealed 125 PS 1.2-liter and 170 PS 1.5-liter TGDi turbo-petrol engines. It might even offer the choice of a diesel engine. Manual and automatic transmissions are expected as well, with the latter likely being a dual-clutch automatic for the new turbo-petrol engine.
Talking of the EV variant, the Sierra will use Acti.EV platforms like the Punch EV and the new Harrier EV. Tata Motors has not revealed any technical details or battery specs, but like the Harrier EV, it could offer single-motor front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive specifications.
As per media reports, the ICE versions of the Tata Sierra will be launched in the country in the second half of 2025. Tata Motors will be following the EV-first philosophy, which has recently been implemented with the launch of the Curvv siblings.
