Hyundai Creta – Leader of the Market in the Long Run

Hyundai Creta was the market leader in the sales of 17,016 units in April 2025, registering an increase of 19.9% YoY and 3.4% MoM. Associated with an extensive choice of engines, lavish interior and good brand image, Creta remains attractive for the urban customers in search of comfort and performance.

Maruti Brezza – Strong Runner-Up

Maruti’s Brezza was only behind the Creta by 45 units to sell 16,971 units. Although it declined marginally by 0.8% MoM, its 43.3% YoY growth only serves as testimony to its increasing popularity. With CNG introduction, the Brezza targets the budget conscious urban families, with the improved safety features.

Mahindra Scorpio-N – For the bold Build

The YoY and the MoM growth of Scorpio-N by Mahindra was 11.8% and 4.4% respectively with 15,534 units sold in April. Having powerful off- road capabilities, body on frame construction and brand loyalty Scorpio-N continues to be among the most popular SUVs in semi-urban as well as adventure based markets.

Tata Nexon (+EV) – Steadying Up with Electric Push

Tata’s Nexon which has both ICE and EV variants’ sales stood at 15,457 units, 3.0% up YoY and 6.9% up MoM. Nexon EV is still one of the best electric cars in India, thanks to subsidies and expansion in charging infrastructure. As is the norm, the push for safety and innovativeness by Tata is rewarding.

Maruti Fronx – Emerging new face in the compact SUV market space

Maruti Fronx registered the highest YoY growth in the top 5 with a number of 14345 units selling in April month. It also recorded a significant 6.9% MoM increase, which signaled an increase in demand. Fronx with its sporty design, turbo-petrol alternatives, and crossover desirability is fast becoming a choice of the younger buyers.

Sales of SUVs are expected to trend high until the year 2025 as new launches, push from the festive demand, and enhancing supply of hybrid and electric vehicles push the sector forward. When several automakers are to roll out new models in the next few months, they will push up competition in the SUV market further.
