Skoda plans to bring a new 8-speed automatic gearbox next year
According to media reports, Skoda-Volkswagen India 2.0 cars Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun, and Virtus – will adopt a new Aisin-sourced 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox in 2026.
The Aisin AQ300 is a more robust transmission with a higher torque rating compared to the current 7-speed DSG. The increased torque output of the new engine is expected to improve performance and potentially boost fuel efficiency as well.
The automaker has also hinted that it is working to localise the production of the gearbox in a bid to keep prices in control.
