FASTag New Rules To Come Into Effect From August 1
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has released new guidelines, particularly emphasizing the FASTag Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, which will be mandatory starting August 1. Ensuring all FASTags are up-to-date and properly verified, the system will function more efficiently.
The new set of FASTag rules will come into effect from August 1.
Companies offering FASTag services must complete KYC for all FASTags issued between three to five years ago by October 31, a process that begins on August 1. FASTag customers should ensure their KYC is updated during this timeframe in accordance with NPCI guidelines.
KYC updates are mandatory for FASTags issued three years ago, to be completed by October 31.
Key Highlights of New FASTag Rules:
- Linking to Registration and Chassis Numbers.
- Mandatory KYC Updates: KYC update for 3-year-old FASTags.
- Photographic Evidence: Uploading clear photos of the car’s front and side
- Companies providing FASTag services must ensure KYC is updated for all FASTags issued between three and five years ago.
- Mobile Number Requirement: FASTag must be linked to a mobile number.
- For new vehicles, the registration number must be updated within 90 days of purchase.
The new rules and regulations surrounding FASTag are aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of toll collection on national highways.
