Mercedes has Launched the EQS SUV in India at Rs 1.41 crore

Mercedes has launched the EQS SUV in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.41 crore. This is the sixth EV in Mercedes’ Indian lineup and is positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV.

The Mercedes lineup now features a broad electric car portfolio that includes the EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, EQS SUV, EQS sedan, and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV.

Notably, in the first half of 2024, the company saw a 60% growth in BEV sales, contributing to 5% of its total sales in India. The EQS 580 sedan has already sold over 500 units locally, and there are confirmed bookings for 80+ Electric G-Class models ahead of its launch.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Exterior

The EQS SUV features a closed-off grille (featuring the big Mercedes-Benz logo in the center), which is flanked by sleek LED headlights. Additionally, there’s also a connected LED DRL strip running the width of the bonnet and an aggressive-looking bumper.

On the side, the electric SUV gets flush-fitting door handles and aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear features a 3D full-width LED bar and a smooth design.

The EQS 580 4Matic SUV measures 5,125mm in length, 1,959mm in width, and 1,718mm in height.

Moreover, the standard EQS SUV adopts a more minimalist design with a one-tone color palette and reduced chrome accents. The AMG Line package brings a sporty touch with modified front and rear bumpers and 21-inch diamond-cut AMG wheels.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Interior

The interior is equipped with Mercedes’ MBUX Hyperscreen, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch infotainment display, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen. A three-spoke steering wheel, ventilated, and electrically adjustable front seats. The EQS USV comes with a three-row layout.

Furthermore, the feature-laden SUV gets soft-close doors, puddle lamps, Burmester audio, five-zone climate control, 11.6-inch rear-seat entertainment displays, ADAS level 2, and adjustable seats in the second row.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Powertrain and range

The EQS SUV will source power from a 118kWh battery pack with a dual-motor setup. The electric motors will be tuned to produce 544 bhp and 858 Nm of torque. With an AWD setup, this 7-seater SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

The ARAI-certified range figure of the vehicle is rated at 809 kilometers.

Additionally, it supports 200 kW DC fast charging, allowing it to charge from 10-80% in 31 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz EQS 580: Safety

Safety is covered by nine airbags as standard and, of course, the ADAS Level 2 suite of advanced safety assistants.
