The Wagon R is one of the most successful small cars to come from Suzuki’s stable. Born in 1993, the car was introduced in India only in 1999 and has received many upgrades ever since.

Latest reports suggest that the next-generation WagonR in Japan may be equipped with a full hybrid setup.

This move could redefine the entry-level hybrid car market. If Maruti plans to launch the Wagon R hybrid in India, then its pricing is going to play a key role as the added technology will definitely ask for a premium price. Moreover, a full hybrid setup has relatively fewer emissions; users will be more interested in any monetary gains that the next-gen WagonR may have to offer.

Maruti has already started working on an affordable hybrid system for smaller cars. These will likely come with a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine.

The Suzuki WagonR full hybrid will have less emissions as compared to ICE. It could offer lower running costs due to better mileage.

The WagonR hybrid will easily have a mileage of 30 kmpl. The CNG variant currently offers 33.47 km/kg of mileage.

The current ICE WagonR starts at Rs 5.55 lakh in India; its full hybrid counterpart might seem significantly more expensive. However, reports suggest that its pricing will remain competitive.
