Earlier this year, Skoda revealed its plan to launch a new compact SUV in the market. The Czech automaker has released exterior sketches of the forthcoming subcompact SUV.
The car will be a sub-four compact SUV and now the name will be officially revealed on 21 August, 2024. It will be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform which is developed exclusively for India.
The new sub-four compact SUV will measure less than four metres in length.
The compact SUV is expected to go on sale a by March 2025, while the name will be finalised on August 21, 2024.
Skoda plans to launch the car with a name starting with the letter ‘K’ like the other SUVs in its portfolio, the Kushaq and Kodiaq.
Skoda had shortlisted 10 names for its upcoming compact SUV: Kwiq, Kymaq, Kylaq, Kariq, Kyroq, Kosmiq, Kayaq, Kaiq, Kliq, Karmiq.
Reportedly, Skoda has received over 1,30,000 entries which included nearly 20,000 unique names. With the introduction of the compact SUV, Skoda is targetting sales of 1 lakh units and a 5 percent market share by the end of the decade.
