The Mahindra 5-door Thar is the most anticipated launch from Mahindra this year. The SUV has been spotted in heavy camouflage multiple times. The Thar 5-door has been spied undisguised, revealing the front and side of the production-ready 5-door version.

The Thar 5-door could be revealed on August 15th. It will likely be called the Mahindra Thar Armada upon launch.

Exterior: The Mahindra 5-door Thar

The new undisguised images of the Thar 5-door have surfaced on the internet, revealing its fascia and side of the SUV for the first time a new grille design, which is divided into vertical slats split in the center, each double-stacked, unlike the seven slots present in the current 3-door Thar.

It gets a circular headlamp cluster with LED projector lights with c-shaped DRLs, while the turn indicators are positioned on the fenders.

Overall, the Thar 5-door has the same silhouette as the 3-door version. Moreover, the side mirrors are equipped with cameras, which confirms the SUV will get a 360-degree camera.

The door handle has been placed at the upper end of the rear door, onto the c-pillar of the SUV. It gets silver-finished side steps as well.

The Thar 5-door will also get a panoramic sunroof.

Interior: The Mahindra 5-door Thar

On the inside, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be equipped with a dual 10.25-inch display with digital driver’s display, and dual-zone AC. The interior ambiance is enhanced with premium materials and finishes, including dual-tone upholstery options.

Additionally, there are powered and ventilated front seats and a split-folding second row for additional storage space.

Powertrain : The Mahindra 5-door Thar

The upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is likely to be offered with three engine options: a 1.5-litre entry-level diesel engine, a 2.2-liter diesel, and a 2.0-liter petrol unit. Also, all powertrains to get with manual and automatic gearbox options.

The petrol variant is expected to deliver 150 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, while the diesel variant will offer 129 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.

Safety: The Mahindra 5-door Thar

The safety kit could include up to six airbags, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and front and rear parking sensors.

The higher variants will be equipped with ADAS technology.

Competitors: The Mahindra 5-door Thar

The Mahindra Thar 5-door will rival the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
