The sedan is only available in its long-wheelbase form and a single variant – ‘530Li M Sport’. The 5-Series has been offered in long-wheelbase guise in India, for the first time.
India is the first market to get the long-wheelbase version of the sedan in right-hand-drive configuration. This model will be BMW’s second LWB offering in India, following the 3 Series Grand Limousine. The new 5 Series LWB will be locally assembled at the company’s facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The deliveries for the all-new eighth-generation 5-Series will begin by September this year.
The new-gen 5 Series is poised to compete head-on with the Mercedes E-Class LWB, which is also slated for launch later this year.
The 5 Series is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
BMW claims a 0-100kph time of 6.5 seconds and a top speed limited to 250kph.
The new 5 Series LWB gets a new design language highlighted by a new enlarged illuminated kidney grille, angular headlights, sharper bumpers, and a multi-spoke design for the alloy wheels, gives the car a distinctive and aggressive look. Additionally, there are some Titanium Bronze accents for the grille, bumpers and window surround. The sloping roofline imparts a coupe-like silhouette, while the rear end features flat LED tail lamps and a sporty diffuser, reinforcing the car’s dynamic aesthetics.
The new 5 Series LWB rides on a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, which can be upgraded to larger 19-inch M-Sport alloy wheels.
The all-new BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase is available in four exciting metallic paintworks – Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, M Carbon Black, and Sparkling Copper Grey.
The new 5 Series LWB comes with a minimalist design philosophy and a strong emphasis on digital technology, with dual large screens with curved display made up of a 14.9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display. Moreover, the crystalline finish trim that enhances the cabin’s ambience.
Notably, the BMW 5 Series features a fully vegan interior.
The back seat area, has ample amount of legroom and headroom offering supreme comfort with distinctive leather upholstery for perfect cushioning and bolstering. The new 5 Series is rich in Amenities , the rear seat occupants get individual temperature settings thanks to the 4-zone tempreature control.
Additional features of the new 5 Series LWB include ventilated front seats, USB-C charging ports, an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, an optional dual-screen rear entertainment system, a comprehensive ADAS suite, an iDrive rotary controller, drive modes and much more.
