Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will soon be discontinued from the Indian market. As per media reports, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan will be discontinued by April 2025 due to its poor sales and increasing market demand for SUVs.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz likely To Be Discontinued this april!
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was introduced in 2014 in India as a replacement for the Maruti SX4 sedan. Even though the sedan offered initial success, the sales dropped over the years.
Consumer preferences and the discontinuation of its diesel variant have led to a steady sales decline. The sedan received its last major update in 2018, the mid-size sedan lacks quite a few features and looks quite dated compared to its rivals.
On a monthly basis, the Ciaz saw sales of 659 units in October, 597 in November, and 464 in December 2024, totaling 5,861 units for the first nine months of FY25—a 34% decline YoY.
Meanwhile, Brands like Skoda, Hyundai, Volkswagen now have stronghold in the midsize sedan segment, Volkswagen Virtus now leads the segment, followed by Skoda Slavia and Hyundai Verna.

Diminishing Sedan segment

The Sedan segment contributed around 20% to overall car sales in India a decade back. That number has dropped to below 10% in 2024. An increasing number of users are choosing SUVs, which currently contribute more than 50% of overall car sales.
